Nobody has done this in a remotely piloted jet.

Guinness RC jet record

Niels Herbrich, 2017: 749.2 km/h (Mach 0.61). An unverified 2026 run by Tomas Salve reportedly reached ~805 km/h (Mach 0.657). Nobody has taken a remotely piloted, air-breathing jet past Mach 1 in level flight.

The Boom Prize

A standing open competition for exactly that: a remotely piloted, air-breathing airplane exceeding Mach 1 in level flight. It's the specific target our roadmap is built to reach.

Other university attempts

Purdue's High Speed Plane, the University of Bath's Mach Initiative, and Yale's Project Jet are all working the same problem. A multi-university effort, Project Boom, has since ended.

"We aren't just building an aircraft. We are building the team that will create the next one."
